I am sure that many of you are thinking ahead of what your child will be doing for Summer and perhaps even Spring when generally the skates are put away for a few weeks for the baseball gloves or lacrosse sticks! Well, read ahead for what NORTH HOCKEY has planned for you! As our program grows, so do the Board’s well laid out opportunities for you!
Our tryouts for the 2011-2012 season are planned for early April. Every child is required to attend an evaluation to ensure proper placement for next year’s teams. Players will know in May of their team assignment, who their coach is and who their teammates will be! With the increase in participation, the NORTH HOCKEY Board plans to enter teams in the A, B and C level in each of the Mite and Squirt Divisions and more team opportunities at the Pee Wee, Middle School and Bantam age levels.
Our registration process will be ONLINE on our new website and an off- ice conditioning component will be offered to our North Hockey players as well. So please read below for more information regarding these new and exciting opportunities! We are excited and are looking forward to 2011 and hope you will join us in our positive outlook toward the coming of the 2011 season!
2011-2012 Tryouts/Registration
Our registrations this year will take place ONLINE on our new NORTH HOCKEY website! www.northhockey.goalline.ca. Each participant will register on the website and enter all information so that NORTH HOCKEY may have all up to date and accurate information. Our tryout dates are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, April 11 and 13th. Online registration will be available soon.
• April 11, Monday, 5:00-6:30pm – Pee Wee Tryout (Born 1999 and 2000)
• April 11, Monday, 6:30-8:00pm – Bantam Tryout (Born 1997 and 1998)
• April 13, Wednesday, 5:00-6:30pm – Mite Tryout (born 2003 or later)
• April 13, Wednesday, 6:30-8:00pm – Squirt Tryout (born 2001 and 2002)
All tryouts will take place at the IORIO ARENA in Walpole. For those wishing to try out for a MIDDLE SCHOOL team, please attend the tryout which applies to your age group.
NORTH HOCKEY Teams up with NEH
New in 2011, NORTH HOCKEY will partner up with NEH for a number of opportunities, including placement of our NORTH HOCKEY A teams in the NEH League. This past season 2010, we had the opportunity to have our Squirt A team play in the NEH League. Due to the success of this opportunity and the positive feedback from parents, we have decided to move forward with placement of A teams at the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee and possibly Bantam teams in Fall 2011. We look forward to this move and invite you to share in our enthusiasm!
NEW Spring Squirt Opportunity!
We are looking for current Squirt players who may be interested in participating in a short, 6 week, game only, SPRING HOCKEY session! Games will be scheduled on Monday evenings, 5:00 or 600pm, at the Iorio Arena in Walpole in the 4 team League. May 2 – June 6. Cost $100.00. Look for registration information to be advertised in early March.
Spring / Summer Hockey Opportunities!
Returning this year! Once again, we will offer Spring/Summer teams with NORTH HOCKEY! We know you are all anxious to hear what NORTH HOCKEY will be offering! Registration information for SPRING and SUMMER Leagues will be available in early March.
• Mite & Squirt - Our own NORTH HOCKEY Summer 3x3 League. A HUGE success last year, please join us for this fun and relaxing summer opportunity for your Mite or Squirt player. Players will touch the puck, get a lot of skate time and have fun with their friends in this great low cost opportunity to keep your players on the ice. June 13 – August 22 (no July 4th), Monday evenings, Walpole Iorio Arena, 5:00 or 6:00 games. Cost $110.00 to include jersey!
• Pee Wee – NORTH HOCKEY will submit a team to play in the NEH League at the Iorio Arena in Walpole. Dates, times and cost will be made available shortly.
• Middle School – We will enter a NORTH HOCKEY Middle School Team for those players entering GRADES 6, 7AND 8 IN Fall 2011. 10 games plus playoffs, June 22 – August 31. Wednesday evenings, Foxboro Sport Center, 5:30pm, 6:40pm and 7:50pm games. Cost $175.00
• Midget – Foxboro League for players ENTERING grades 9-12. 10 games plus playoffs, Sunday evenings, Foxboro Sport Center, 6:00pm, 7:10pm and 8:20pm games. Cost $230.00
Summer Hockey Camps!
NORTH HOCKEY would like to promote the RB HOCKEY Camps to our NORTH HOCKEY participants. Players from NORTH HOCKEY will receive a $50.00 discount! RB Hockey offers a great camp for beginner to novice players. All types of camps are available and the $50.00 discount will apply to the majority of the camps offered. Canning February 2011
Another successful Canning Event! Thank you to our players and parents who volunteered their time to help us to raise almost $2300.00! Once again, many stories were shared at the end of the day… The exposure for the NORTH HOCKEY program is very important and hopefully we got the word out there that the NORTH HOCKEY program is available to players from Foxboro, North Attleboro, Mansfield, Attleboro and surrounding towns.
Plunkett Returns to NORTH!
Do we know how to have FUN? Oh yes, we do! Jim Plunkett, the popular “happy hour” entertainer will again be entertaining NORTH HOCKEY friends and family on Saturday, March 12th, 7:00pm at the South Attleboro Elks Hall. Tickets are just $30.00. Your team administrators will be taking reservations and collecting payment for tickets. These will go quickly so please let us know your headcount as soon as possible! Tickets at the door, IF available, will be $35.00. Don’t miss out on this fun event. All proceeds will benefit the North Attleboro High School Hockey Teams.
Raffle Calendars
Your child will be receiving RAFFLE CALENDARS this week. Many of you have helped us in the past to raise money for the North Attleboro High School Hockey Team, by purchasing or selling a number of the Raffle Calendars. The calendars offer prizes for each day of the month of March. They sell for $10.00 each, with each purchaser having 31 chances to win a prize! There are cash prizes and gift certificates! Our YOUTH players are offered incentive prizes if they wish to participate, including $300.00 off of your 2011-2012 NORTH HOCKEY registration fees! There is even a pizza party offered to the top selling team.
All of the monies raised do go toward the North Attleboro High School Hockey Tea, to help raise the 45,000.00 needed to place the Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams on the ice for the 2010-2011 season. Please keep in mind that the NAHS Hockey teams are 100% Booster funded and receive NO monies from the school department, so fundraising is a necessary evil. ANY support you can offer is appreciated. All calendar $ is to be turned in to your team administrator by February 20th along with any unsold calendars. Thank you!
NORTH HOCKEY Year End Banquets
The dates have been set for our year end banquets! Due to the success of last year’s banquets, the North Hockey Board has once again decided to hold our banquets at the Chateau, located in Norton. Our MITES will gather for dinner and awards on Tuesday, April 5th at 6:00pm and the Squirt, Pee Wee and Middle School Teams will get together on Thursday, April 7th at 6:00pm. Mark your calendars now and look for your invitations to arrive early March!

State Playdowns
We would like to congratulate our MIDGET TEAM for advancing to the Mass State Championship Round! Although they did not win, it was a great experience for all. We hope all teams enjoyed their State Playdown experience! We will be back again next year!
TOURNAMENTS!
Congratulations to our SQUIRT A Team in their Championship win in the Cape Cod Christmas Tournament held at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center over the holiday vacation week! Although the weather conditions were against them, the Squirt A Team led by coaches Zammiello, Potenza, Gentile and Sparrow, braved the storm and headed over the bridge to take on teams from Hingham, Barnstable and Plymouth, resulting in a Championship win for the team. All other teams enjoyed the sport over vacation week as well while proudly representing NORTH HOCKEY all through the area. We are very PROUD of each and every NORTH team! Congratulations to you all!
